Turtle dove

The weather was mild for our Stodmarsh trip, with showers that started to become heavy, but it was well worth donning the waterproofs.
Here's the full list of what we saw: mute swan, greylag goose, shelduck, mallard, shoveler, tufted duck, pochard, pheasant, great crested grebe, cormorant, bittern (h), grey heron, marsh harrier, sparrowhawk, hobby, moorhen, coot, lapwing, herring gull, lesser black-backed gull, common tern, feral pigeon, stock dove, woodpigeon, collared dove, turtle dove (3), cuckoo, tawny owl (juvenile), swift, great spotted woodpecker, skylark (h), sand martin, swallow, house martin, wren , dunnock (h), robin, nightingale (h), blackbird, song thrush (h), grasshopper warbler (h), sedge warbler, reed warbler (h), chiffchaff, Cetti's warbler (h), whitethroat, lesser whitethroat (h), blackcap, bearded tit, long-tailed tit, blue tit, starling, jay, magpie, jackdaw, carrion crow, rook, house sparrow, chaffinch, greenfinch, goldfinch, linnet, reed bunting.

That's an impressive 63 species. The highlights? A booming bittern, a singing grasshopper warbler and three turtle doves.
