Karen Nicklin

Karen Nicklin

It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of one of our members and volunteers, Karen Nicklin, who has died suddenly and unexpectedly at home on 24th September 2020.
Karen was a great supporter of the RSPB. She was a much loved member of the group meeting and greeting visitors at our indoor meetings. She also helped out with serving the refreshments. She played a full part in the group's activities regularly attending most of our indoor and outdoor meetings, making many friends
Karen had a great love for the outdoors and nature, in particular, a passion for ospreys which she dedicated a lot of time to as a volunteer warden at the Loch Garten reserve in Scotland. She also volunteered at St Aidans RSPB reserve.
Karen was also a popular and active member of the Wakefield Naturalists Society and the Wakefield Walking Group. She was also an excellent photographer as demonstrated when she gave talks at our member's evenings.
Her loss will be felt deeply by all within the group who knew her. Our thoughts are with her family and many friends at this sad time.
