From Victorian Britain to the present day. Birds have been the subject for painters, composers, writers, poets and sculptors from earliest time's right up to the present day. In this presentation Peter will look at a wide variety of birds through the works of many different artists of 20th and 21st centuries and discover what inspired them and how they incorporated their observations into their art. For many artists their works were also an important contribution to the conservation movement that was slowly developing at the same time

British Islands - A Birders Paradise Jason Moss

Jason Moss joined Oriole Birding in January of this year as a staff leader after more than a decade working closely with both sea and migrant birds at places like Blakeney Point, The Farne Islands, Fair Isle and Skomer Island. Living in these remote hubs of bird migration has meant that Jason has been fortunate to witness many stunning days of migrant arrivals and falls, whilst also finding numerous British rarities and scarcities including Britain's second Magnolia Warbler. This evening will be sponsored by Oriole Birding and there will be a display before the talk and at the interval of their literature about their worldwide birding tours.

The Biking Birder a.k.a. Gary Prescott is a Europe's most famous Green Birder, birdwatcher, twitcher and environmentalist. Not only has Gary cycled all round the UK birding and visiting every RSPB and WWT nature reserve . . . twice, but in 2018 he has cycled from the Pacific up and over the Andes and then kayak down the mighty Madre de Dios river through the Manu Rainforest and he will come to Watford and tell us all about it!
