UPDATE ON COVID-19

As a result of the Covid-19 Outbreak all RSPB Local Groups throughout the country cancelled Indoor Meetings, Outings and events until September. Last week the Volunteer Leadership Team met to discuss the Local Group programme from September and reached the decision to extend the suspension of Local Group indoor and outdoor meetings until 31 December 2020. More...

VOLUNTARY WORK HAS BEEN SUSPENDED DUE TO THE CORONAVIRUS SITUATION. WHEN ALL GETS BACK TO NORMAL MAYBE YOU WOULD LIKE TO JOIN ONE OF OUR TEAMS.If you would like to support the RSPB by doing some voluntary work and learn new skills our group supports all three reserves in Cumbria and the Osprey Project at Bassenthwaite.There are volunteering opportunities for manning the Visitor Centre at Campfield Marsh RSPB Reserve, Bowness-on-Solway, on Saturdays and Sundays welcoming and giving information to visitors to the reserve. There are also outdoor jobs including conservation and maintenance work out on the reserves with the team on Thursdays, but on other days if you prefer survey work.The Osprey Project offers work in visitor information at view the points at Dodd Forest and Whinlatter Visitor Centre and also Osprey protection. More...

Yes Caelaverock not Mereshead as planned. Due to the very wet weather prior to this visit the roads leading to Mereshead were closed due to flooding. Caelaverock was open to visitors so therefore saved the day. Although wellies were advised to access some of the hides. More...
