A group of 11 met for the walk on asettled morning. There were the regular woodland birds (goldfinch, tits, robin, wren, mistle thrush, blackbird, etc.) in the oak woods along with many corvids seen in flight (crow, jackdaw, raven). Many species were heard but less were seen. The open moorland past the first reservoir revealed green woodpecker, red kite, buzzard, stonechat, dunnock, chaffinches, kestrel. Reaching the second reservoir the group could see a large group of lesser and greater black-backed gulls which scattered when a red kite flew over. A meadow pipit appeared in the bracken at the side of the water and grey wagtails were around the outfall feeding the valley stream. Altogether 28 species were seen.
