A small group of 10 met up on a bright sunny morning at the car park. Birdsong was heard around the woods and birds started appearing as we followed a circular route. Starling, Little Grebe and Jay were seen as well as many blue, coal and great tits. Up in the conifers goldfinch and a G.S Woodpecker were observed. We continued our walk along the valley floor disturbing a buzzard in a tree on the way, stopped at the lake (see photo) where a resident friendly male mallard begged for titbits, spotted half a dozen gadwall, coot, moorhen and a kingfisher and followed the main drive back to the car park. A pleasant walk on the bright autumn morning. Twenty-three species of birds were seen during the morning.
