Although the weather was overcast it remained dry for the group of seven to savour the footpaths of the Dunvant area. The intention was to walk westwards to pick up the Gower Way footpath to Three Crosses. The group are pictured as the footpath through woodland opened out into a field edge. However, after passing the spoil heap to the old Killan mine, the path was impassable due to extreme mud between two path gates so the group returned to Dunvant Square for a rest before following the circular path around the Brickworks nature reserve. During this time twenty one species of birds were seen, the highlights being the closeness of a flock of long tailed tits in tree in the square, a goldcrest in a low hazel tree, a grey wagtail around the brickworks pond and three cormorants and a heron around the brickworks lake.
