The group stayed locally on Saturday night ready for a bright start on the Sunday. The warden guided walk around West Sedgemoor did not disappoint with large raft's of duck (see photo) and large flocks of lapwings and golden plover. The occasional fly past of a Marsh Harrier raised the flocks up into the sky. At lunch the group travelled to Greylake where a similar scene of rafts of wildfowl and waders presented itself again - this time the hide was nearer and so we could identify individual ducks as teal, pintail, mallard or pochard and a Great White Egret! As the afternoon darkened it was off then to Ham Wall where we were treated to clouds of murmurating starlings flying past their evening roost site before landing at what seemed a very crowded area. The hundreds and thousands of starlings completed a very memorable day with a total 42 species seen at the three reserves.
