Life on the ocean wave !

Life on the ocean wave !

A number of the group risked life and limb (considering the treacherous weather conditions we have had over the last few weeks) by going on a boat trip around Puffin Island. We needn't have worried as the boat was a lovingly well maintained stable catamaran and for once the weather co-operated with hardly any rain or wind. We set off from Menai Bridge Port and almost immediately came across huge numbers of Shag... in fact they proved to be found almost everywhere ! Obviously sea birds were what we came for and we were not disappointed, with Slavonian Grebe, Red Throated Diver, Great Northern Diver, Fulmar, Eider, Razorbill and Guillemot all being seen. 2 Raven sitting on the ruins on Puffin Island were an unexpected bonus as were Chough found of the landward side of the island. However, highlight of the trip was an encounter with a number of Dolphin who played along side the boat giving us all memorable moments (and Gill Lewis, the best photographer amongst us, a brilliant photo opportunity). It was a excellent trip - a wonderful boat and very accommodating captain, great birds, close encounters with wild Dolphins and Stan wasn't sea sick !!
