Rolf became interested in sharks during his university studies and spent his work placement with the University of Miami shark research department, returning for three successive years and also working with the BBC to film a documentary. He has spent much of his life dedicated to shark conservation, taking a leading role in the Shark Trust and working in public education in the UK and abroad. He was project officer for the Durlston Marine Project (Dorset) where he studied bottle-nosed dolphins and co-founded the charity MARINElife. He has an interest in all natural history. In 1999 he joined the Royal Navy Reserve, completing two operational tours. This talk concerns the dangerous waters of the North Arabian Gulf, when the flagship's deck filled with migrating birds and witnesses an avian spectacle with thousands of birds on the move.

Simon has been birding for over 22 years, working as a professional Ornithologist, Forestry Commission Woodland Officer, Guest Speaker and Wildlife Tour Leader. He has travelled widely throughout Europe and beyond. He volunteers his time with Bat Conservation, sits on the Conservation & Surveys Committee for the Kent Ornithological Society and is current Field Leader for the Maidstone RSPB Local Group. Enjoy a scenic journey around the British coastline, discovering the lives of our coastal birds, from Puffins to Purple Sandpipers, Guillemots to Gulls, Razorbills to Redshanks. Michael is a major opponent of the current Birds are Dinosaurs orthodoxy. In his talk he will outline the over-looked evidence which indicates that birds are not the descendant of Velociraptor like theropod dinosaurs. He will also discuss the competing down-from-the-trees and up-from-the-ground theories of the origin of flight and why Archaeopteryx is incontestably the first bird.

Richard is Director of Conservation at the World Land Trust, an international conservation NGO based in Suffolk. He has over 20 years experience working in conservation, including international work with the RSPB.
The World Land Trust has worked for over 30 years to bring land into conservation through a network of partner organisations in over 20 countries around the world. The talk will outline WLT's work, highlighting projects that have secured over one million acres of land for conservation.
