Swifts in York

Swifts in York

In 2023 the York LG will be 50 years young. To mark this major anniversary in a lasting manner Barry Bishop has proposed the Local Group work with other groups to add York to the growing number of Swift Cities (link below to information about the first UK Swift City- Belfast). A significant project like this need willing help and Barry is calling for volunteers, particularly for the role of project lead. if you are interested please contact Barry directly: barryjbishop@hotmail.com.
If you want to learn more about these remarkable birds and how to encourage them to recolonise our towns and cities, on Thursday 23rd January 2020, Linda Jackson from the Leeds Swift Project will be giving her talk, A Year in The Life of a Swift to the newly formed Avenue Wildlife Group. Everyone welcome. £4 on the door, 6.30 for a 7pm start in the Function Room, Haxby Sports Bar, 64, North Lane, Haxby YO32 3JP, (entrance between Haxby Butchers and Age UK), plenty of parking nearby. A bar is available for a "swift half" after the talk!
