RSPB response to amended application for 18 turbines at Strathy Wood

142Kb, PDF

RSPB Scotland strongly supports the development of appropriately sited renewable energy projects that can contribute to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and so help combat climate change, which is one of the biggest threats to wildlife in Scotland and around the world. However, these developments should not be permitted to damage Scotland’s most important wildlife sites, including the blanket bogs of Caithness and Sutherland in which this proposal is located.

Written submission to the Rural Affairs, Climate Change and Environment Committee on implementation of RPP2 and delivery of Scotland’s climate change targets

27Kb, PDF

In order to achieve Climate Change Act targets, RPP2 proposals must be made into policies and implemented. We want to see peatland restoration activity happening in 2014 and 2015 to ensure existing commitments are met and promised funding is spent. Government must work to introduce compulsory nitrogen efficiency measures to all farmers at the earliest opportunity. Meeting the 2020 100% renewable electricity target must be done in harmony with the environment.
