Join the resident RSPB team for a guided walk around one of Wales’ most breathtaking reserves. Our autumn walks have a special focus on Grey Seals as they come onto the island’s beaches to give birth. Learn about their fascinating life history and our research program. We’ll spot some of Ramsey’s other wildlife along the way, learn about the island’s history and find out what it is like to live and work on a remote island today.

This is a full day event: The morning guided walk lasts up to 4 hours, then spend the afternoon at your leisure before the return boat at 16:00.

ADVANCE BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL AS WALKS ARE LIMITED TO 16 PARTICIPANTS

Route:  The guided walk route is approximately 3 miles long and climbs to a height of 450 feet/126 meters above sea-level.

There is a small shop on the island selling hot and cold drinks and snacks, but not sandwiches.  We therefore recommend that walk participants bring their own packed lunch.  it is advisable to bring warm and waterproof clothing in  inclement weather, as there is no cover once on the island trail and the boat crossing can be wet. Sunscreen and a hat are also advisable in hot weather.

2017 Dates: All sailings are weather dependent

For information on boat crossing and to book: Please contact Thousand Islands Expeditions on 01437 721721 or email: info@thousandislands.co.uk

IMPORTANT POINTS:

Due to the steep steps in St Justinians and in Ramsey harbour and the rough terrain on the island trail, a reasonable level of fitness is required and sturdy footwear with good grip and ankle support, ideally walking boots, are essential.

Ramsey is a rat free island. If you are bringing a picnic, please ensure it is securely packed in a rucksack or cool bag. Open carrier bags are not permitted and may be refused. If you leave your bag unattended in St Justinians for any time, please check it carefully for signs of rodent damage before boarding the island boat.
