Join us for a wild night out sleeping under the stars at Newport Wetlands. We'll start the evening cooking around the campfire and settling in to our new canvas homes.  Pond dipping and minibeast hunts will follow to get us warmed up for the evenings activities.  We'll be joined by the Usk Astronomers who'll give us a guided tour of the night sky in their planetarium, before we look into the universe when the sky is dark enough.  There's also a meteor roadshow where we get to look at rocks that formed millions of years ago.

Just before dusk we'll make some moth traps using different techniques that you can try out in your own garden when you go home.  We'll then set off on a nocturnal excursion armed with bat detectors to see what we can discover under cover of the night.  When we finally get back to camp we can relax around the campfire with toasted marshmallows and a shooting star spotting competition.  We'll also be able to look through the telescope and search for distant galaxies, nebulae, globular clusters, and other celestial bodies.

We'll then be ready for a good night's sleep under canvas.  In the morning we'll awake to the sound of birdsong, and have chance to see what we've caught in the moth trap overnight.   This will be followed by an early morning bird walk to end your outdoor adventure.
