Big Wild Sleepout at RSPB Arne

The Big Wild Sleepout is a unique opportunity to camp out in the wild on the spectacular Arne reserve. Bring your tent and sleeping bag and camp out a beautiful area of the reserve.

We’ll be enjoying an evening meal and a full English breakfast cooked over our campfire in a spot not usually open to the public. Later, we’ll head out onto the heathland for an evening walk to track down nightjar, glow worms, owls and bats.


There are three dates this year:

  • Friday 31st May overnight to 1st June 2019 (5pm to 10am)
  • Friday 2nd August overnight to Saturday 3rd August 2019 (5pm to 10am)
  • Saturday 3rd August overnight to Sunday 4th August 2019 (5pm to 10am)

Things to remember…

  • Please arrive promptly for 5pm on Day 1 at the visitor hut at Arne car park. Directions can be found on our website www.rspb.org.uk/arne, our postcode is BH20 5BJ.
  • Unfortunately, no dogs or pets are allowed on the event.
  • RSPB Arne is not a campsite and members of the public cannot stay over night at anytime unless on an official RSPB event (like the Bid Wild Sleepout)
  • All your equipment will be driven to the camping site, visitors cars will remain in the Arne car Park which will be securely locked overnight.
  • There will be a communal fire onsite for all to share. There are to be no other campfires.
  • Your evening meal and breakfast will be provided and included in the event fee.
  •  Unfortunately smoking is not allowed during the event.
  • Toilet facilities will be available but unfortunately no washing facilities (showers etc...)
  • We will be out in the wild so there will be no electricity available.
  • The event is for tents only. So unfortunately, no campervans or caravans.
  • Please do not bring stereos/ radios/ ghetto blasters. Feel free to bring acoustic instruments though.
  • We will be camping out on a wild reserve along with a huge array of wildlife. Please remember that the wildlife is wild.
  • All participants must be packed up and ready to leave for 10am on the morning of Day 2. Have fun!
