Chris Packham Bioblitz - Nature Reserves are not enough!

Sunday 15 July

9am - 1pm

Price: Normal trail fees apply £3.00 adult/£1.50 per child

Join us at RSPB Scotland Lochwinnoch for a fun-filled day of wildlife activities as part of Chris Packham’s UK Bioblitz Campaign.

A bioblitz involves finding and identifying as many species of wildlife as possible in a specified area over a short period of time. Chris and his team of experts will be visiting 50 wildlife sites across the UK this July to highlight the extent to which our wildlife is under threat. The results of the survey will be recorded to create a benchmark to help measure the rise and fall in numbers of different species in the future.

You can help us uncover Lochwinnoch’s wildlife as part of this campaign. Our staff and volunteers will be on hand on the day to help you identify all the birds, mammals, insects, amphibians, reptiles and plants that you find. Who knows what we might discover?

There will be activities for you to try out throughout the bioblitz, including bug hunting, pond dipping, and bird watching.

Please note, Chris will be visiting several sites on the day, and will not be there in person for the whole event. Filming and photography may also be taking place.

Car parking is very limited at RSPB Scotland Lochwinnoch. However, Lochwinnoch Railway Station is located just 400m from the reserve, and is accessible via a pedestrian crossing. There are regular trains from Glasgow Central on the Largs line. Please check official rail websites for information.

If you wish to come by bike, the National Cycle Route 7 runs through the reserve, adjacent to the A737.

If you have specific concerns about travel or parking arrangements for the day, please contact the reserve in advance to discuss.
