Swift Awareness Day - Aldershot

RSPB North East Hampshire Local Group is joining forces with Blackwater Valley Countryside Trust (BVCT) to hold a Swift Awareness Day as part of the national Swift Awareness Week. Swift conservation is one of BVCT's conservation projects which involves placing swift nest boxes and promoting the use of swift bricks locally.

There will be displays from local conservation groups as well as:

- 11.30am Devil Birds, a short film about the life of swifts by Derek Bromhall (repeated in the afternoon)

- 12.30pm Talk by Colin Wilson (BVCT) on local swift conservation and promoting citizen science - encouraging attendees to take survey forms and return to let us know where swifts (especially low flying groups) have been seen.(repeated later in the afternoon)

- hot & cold drinks available.

Aldershot library is a short walk from Aldershot rail & bus station, and a pay & display multistorey car park (long & short stay) is opposite the library.

There will also be a follow-up Swift Walk on Tuesday 19 June, 8pm-9.30pm, meet outside Aldershot Town Football Club, High Street, by the football stadium bus stop.
