Have you ever seen a badger in the wild? Here at Burton Mere Wetlands we have several active badger setts and we know exactly where to watch them foraging at night.

In celebration of the RSPB Dee Estuary reserve's 40th anniversary, we're running five fantastic Badgerwatch events! Come along for an exclusive chance to stay late and enjoy watching these enigmatic creatures in their natural habitat. Whilst we're waiting for darkness to fall, we'll take a look at one of the badger setts, and show off the range of bats coming out for the night.

The short walk follows the reserve trails but not all are fully accessible, with a natural woodland path and mown grass in places. Appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear suitable for the weather conditions on the day are essential. Binoculars are an advantage so bring them along if you have some. Alternatively they can be hired from us on arrival.

Lots of patience is required, and ability to sit still and quietly for an extended period, therefore not recommended for young children. Also not suitable for photography.

Start times vary with sunset: 1 August 8.45pm; 8 August 8.30pm; 15 August 8.15pm; 22 August 8pm; 29 August 7.45pm. Finish times vary but event duration typically 2 hours. Advanced booking and payment essential via Eventbrite:
