Prince's Park Rail

Prince's Park Rail

The lake at Prince's Park has a new visitor not just a pair of mute swans or the little grebes but a stunning water rail has taken up residence at the shallow end of the lake in the reedbed.

Water rail can be a very secretive and difficult bird to see. Smaller and distinctly slimmer than the moorhen, the water rail is a fairly common but highly secretive inhabitant of freshwater wetlands. It has chestnut-brown and black upperparts, grey face and underparts and black-and-white barred flanks, and a long red bill.

The bird has been here since the start of the year and just shows what wonders can be found in our local parks.

Membership renewal for 2021

Membership renewal for 2021

MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL FOR 2021
Your membership to the RSPB LIVERPOOL LOCAL GROUP for 2021 is now due for renewal. Sadly, at the moment it is not possible to produce a new events programme card for the year, but we are determined to remain optimistic, and to keep in touch with our members and friends. We will let you know as soon as it is possible to resume any of our activities (using email where possible).
All local groups outdoor and indoor events are suspended. We will soon be starting up some Zoom talks with our leader Chris Tynan and then with other guests.
We hope that when restrictions change we will be able to plan a number of outdoor walks.
