Greenland White-fronted Geese - past, present and future
The Greenland White-front is one of the most striking and distinctive goose species, but unlike most geese in Europe, its numbers are declining. It breeds in west Greenland, stages in Iceland and the whole population winters in Ireland and the west of Scotland, though they occasionally visit the north-east. This talk will describe the habitat and biology in all parts of the world range and cover its history, conservation and likely prospects.

Ian Francis is RSPB Regional Conservation Manager for East Scotland, and has edited or written several books about local ornithology and natural history. His passion for Greenland White-fronts started as a student and has continued for almost 40 years!
