Based near Enniskillen in Northern Ireland, Richard, now retired, was the former manager of the Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark (United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation) in the North West of the island of Ireland. He now volunteers with the RSPB as Independent Chair of the Lough Erne Landscape Partnership in County Fermanagh. During his time with UNESCO he was lucky to travel quite extensively and this talk is about one of those visits to northern Finland above the Arctic Circle and part of Lapland. His talk will cover the landscape, flora and fauna of the area and a boat journey along the remote Ivalo River near the Russian border.

Award winning photographer, Colin has been imaging our landscape and wildlife for over 40 years, having a multitude of images published, many related to his local area in Dorset. In this return visit, he will give his newest talk A Year in the Country - a miscellany of natural history images taken over a two year period, including birds, mammals, reptiles, invertebrates, wild flowers, fungi, trees, woodland and landscapes.

Location: Elan Valley near Rhayader in Wales. Once there, our leader will be Dave Newman.
The target birds for this lovely part of Wales will be Wood Warbler, Flycatchers, Redstart, Red Kite and woodland birds. All of these were seen at this super venue when we visited as a group some years ago.

FIELD TRIP - Wentwood, Newport Wetlands and Goldcliff

Location: Wentwood Forest near Chepstow to start with.

Three for the price of one on this Saturday field trip.
Dave Newman will lead the group at 3 venues fairly close by in South Wales. We will meet at Candida Beeches car park in Wentwood Woods Forest near Chepstow and will be looking and listening for woodland birds, then to the Newport Wetland Centre and Goldcliff areas to seek out wildfowl and the illusive Bearded Reedlings - always a bit of a challenge!
