Further to our recent post, although Swanscombe Marshes has been awarded SSSI status by Natural England, it is NOT safe from the threat of the London Resort theme park Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP). Buglife, who are heading the campaign, has asked people to write to the planning inspectorate with their views on why this important site must be saved from development. More...

RSPB Bexley Local Group, Coach Trip to RSPB Minsmere - Sunday 23rd February, 2020

The Minsmere reserve invariably has a lot to offer, even on windy days when small birds keep their heads down, and on this very blustery day most of the small birds on my list came from the feeders in the shelter of the RSPB café. Chaffinches were most numerous followed by blue and great tits, some goldfinches the odd robin, coal and marsh tits, and close by a few long tailed tits. Oddly my only skylark was spotted here as it flew over singing like mad and I mustn't forget the cock pheasant scrounging a few tit-bits. More...
