Field trip to Elmley National Nature Reserve.

Location: Elmley National Nature Reserve
From the A249 cross the Swale via the old Kingsferry Bridge onto the B2231 and after about a mile turn right at the brown sign. Follow the track between the farm buildings then across the grazing marsh to the Kingshill Farm car park (£5 per car). The only facilities are toilets. There is a mile walk to the first hide and waterproofs are essential.

This reserve attracts winter visitors including short eared owls, harriers, merlin, waders and large flocks of wigeon.

Field trip to RSPB Rainham Marshes Reserve

In December this reserve should hold a good many winter visitors. including geese, ducks possibly fieldfares and redwings and a variety of waders.
The visitor centre provides hot food and drinks and a shop. There is a small charge for the car park.

Field Trip - Abberton Reervoir, Essex Wildlife Trust, Colchester.

Abberton's variety of winter visitors usually includes goldeneye, goosander and smew, along with a plethora of more common wildfowl, waders and grebes. The fairly new visitors centre offers hot and cold food, while shelter is also offered by two large hides. There is a donation of £2 for non-members of Essex Wildlife Trust.

This reserves position on the Solent gives us the chance of adding sea ducks like eider and scoter to our lsit along with a variety of waders and gulls, while the extensive freshwater habitats are favoured by many different birds including water rail and kingfisher. Bexley Local Group 40th Anniversary Gala Dinner.

Car Field trip to RSPB Northward Hill, High Halstow.

Field Trip To Attenborough Nature Reserve - Notts Wildlife Trust.

Location: Attenborough Nature Reserve.

This reserve located by the River Trent is formed from naturalised gravel pits, will be unfamiliar to most of us but should offer plenty of habitat to explore along its three nature trails. Among the attractions is an artificial sand martin bank that saw 279 chicks fledge in 2017, All facilities are on site and donations are gratefully accepted by the Trust.
