Volunteers Needed For Bird Recording

Each year from September to March inclusive the British Trust for Ornithology, represented locally by the Sussex Ornithological Society, carry out a Wetland Bird Survey (WeBS) at various sites around Sussex.
This is the monitoring scheme for non-breeding waterbirds in the UK which aims to provide data for use in the conservation of their populations and wetland habitat.

This scheme is operated in conjunction with Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) - RSPB - Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) and requires one count per month from September through to March. Several of our groups are involved with this work at various sites, but we need volunteers for similar work at Shinewater.

If you can take on this task can you please contact Richard Bown for details:

It is quite good fun because there is always a possibility that a rarity will turn up!
