Gloucestershire overview
Gavin Black

Gloucestershire offers a diversity of habitats from chalk downland to tidal mudflats, pools and lagoons to ancient forest and limestone cliffs. These habitats bring us breeding species of importance such as Quail, Grey Partridge, Avocets (as of 2012) Hawfinches, Crossbills, Goshawks and even Mandarins, Red-crested Pochards and Dippers. Our RSPB reserves are well known for their breeding Nightingales (Highnam Woods) and Pied Flycatchers (Nagshead). So much to explore, so many species to see. Please see our detailed site descriptions for more information.
