October 2017 - Wildlife Sightings

31st October - Higher Sutton
Several hundred redwing and fieldfare in mixed flocks.

30 October- 7.30am- Astbury Mere
hawfinch - first record for site, 2 siskin, brambling, female wigeon, pochard and goldeneye, 2 grey wagtails, 31 redwing, 11 fieldfare, 434 woodpigeons.

29 October - Astbury Mere - early morning Visual Migration
1200 wood pigeon
87 redwing
23 fieldfare
92 starling
43 lapwing
3 grey wagtail
8 pied wagtail
3 siskin and a single brambling all heading south.
Also present two tawny Owl, kingfisher, sparrowhawk, female pochard and a drake shoveler .

26 October am - Prestbury sewage works area

25 October - Astbury Mere
Aythya hybrid is possibly a Tufted/Pochard cross. Also male sparrowhawk, two buzzard, grey wagtail and kingfisher.

23 October - Astbury Mere
Aythya Duck species.
Kingfisher, two raven, two grey wagtail, male sparrowhawk, two buzzard and 12 skylark flew over.

20 October - Higher Sutton
Small flock of redwing and fieldfare

15 October - am - Hurdsfield Road bridge, Macclesfield canal
Two kingfisher.

10 October - Redesmere
Blackbird, blackheaded gull, blue tit, carrion crow, chaffinch, coal tit, coot, cormorant, dunnock, goldcrest, goosander, great crested grebe, great tit, grey heron, greylag, grey wagtail, jackdaw, jay, kingfisher, little grebe, lesser black backed gull, long tailed tit, magpie, mallard, mistle thrush, moorhen, mute swan, nuthatch, pheasant, pied wagtail, red legged partridge, rook (heard), treecreeper, tufted duck, wood pigeon, wren plus a common frog!
