September Illustrated Talk by Kevin Thornton - Birding in The Southern Medway

Since 2013, almost daily, Kevin has been out on the southern shoreline studying how internationally important numbers of wildfowl and waders use our estuary's waters, mudflats and islands, through a tidal cycle. The talk will touch on his findings, but the main focus is about passing on his tips and tricks for getting the very best out of any visit to the estuary. From St Mary's island at the head of the estuary, round to the mouth at Sheerness and out into the deep water channel beyond. Kevin will take us through the highlights of a typical year's birding available close to home.

Kevin's presentation to the RSPB Medway Local Group is titled BIRDING OF THE SOUTHERN MEDWAY.

The presentation, which is open to non-members, will take place on Tuesday 21 September at Parkwood Green Community Centre, Gillingham. ME8 9PN. 7.30pm - 9.30pm. Doors open 7.00pm. Everyone welcome. Entry pay at door, £3.50 each for members and £4.00 each for non-members. Including tea, coffee or squash during the interval.
