Adult black-tailed godwit in summer plummage, at the RSPB Snettisham nature reserve, Norfolk

Whilst eleven members met on a rather cool morning at Sidlesham Ferry, a juvenile robin attempted to sing in the car park. An emperor dragonfly was then seen patrolling the small pond at the Discovery Area. Ferry Pool had attracted many birds with over 100 black-tailed godwits grouped in the right corner near the road and 80+ lapwings spread out mainly along the submerged sand bar. Small numbers of both teal and shelduck were present as well as at least 40 dunlin busy feeding in the shallow water. More...

Rescheduled at the last minute to avoid poor weather the previous day, the first field trip for eighteen months was supported by ten members. Sightings began with ten swifts and a red kite circling over the car park. Forty rooks and two jackdaws were then seen perched on a telephone wire. More...

Nine members met at Aldershot Park for the morning walk. Two ring-necked parakeets, starlings perched on the light gantries of the football field, jay and wren were amongst a number of species seen before taking the muddy path along the western side of Tongham Pool where we witnessed small flocks of long-tailed tits moving through the scrub. More...
