Tree sparrow on twig

Wednesday, 14 December 2011

Between the A405, North Orbital Road and A1(M) the footpaths around the sand and gravel quarry and Tyttenhanger House Estate and Farm provide a varied habitat and, if you are lucky, some interesting surprises. We found the tree sparrows that were our particular target but were also delighted with other sightings. In particular some yellowhammers in one of the hedges and a delightfully large flock of lapwings alternately wheeling over our heads and settling at the waters edge.
