College Lake Nature Reserve

14 made the visit to College Lake on a cold frosty saturday morning. A flooded landscaped chalk quarry, with high and low level paths all around. From the new visitor centre went clockwise aroud the lake, on the lake were mute swan, gadwall, poachard, wigeon, cormorant, moorhen, snipe, little grebe, tufted duck.
Along the hedgerows tits and finches were flying to and from scrubby bushes on sides of quarry,the far end of lake was flatter with wooded area,there we saw flock of linnetts (20+) and some redwing and fieldfare. Had a nice view of green woodpecker, kestrel, buzzard, red kite, on the way back watched some horned black sheep grazing in the warm sunshine.
