The park has diverse habitats ranging from the formal Upper Lake with its ducks, moorhens, black headed gulls and kingfishers to the playground, cafe and bowls green, though to the wetlands area, into the woods where there is an abundance of bird and insect life, across the expanse of the King George's Field to the allotments where the occasional deer is seen. This of course makes the park an ideal place to explore for any budding (or experienced) nature lover.

The park is supported by the Friends of Grosvenor & Hilbert Park. Their website has much more, including events and natural history.
