The weather was fresh with sunny periods when the group of nine assembled at the reserve car park. There was only a juvenile robin in the car park and the woods were ominously quiet. We thought things had to get better but no! There was little birdlife to be seen or heard in the tall trees on either side of the main path. The river Clydach was a bit more productive with a glimpse of a grey wagtail. We preservered but could not conjour many birds out of nothing. Three nuthatches provided some relief and some high flying swifts were seen. After the coffee break we decided to head back to the car park but we were rewarded with close up views of a juvenile dipper. Only 9 species were seen.
