The group of 7 met at the Angel Car park at 9.30am where there were many swallows, house martins, and goldfinches. We followed the path from Pontneddfechan (see photo) along the wooded valley alongside the Nedd Fechan stream. There was enough bird movement and bird song to keep the walk interesting but there was a little frustration at easily losing sight of woodland birds behind the fully leaved branches before we could focus our binoculars. However there were many excellent views of dipper and grey wagtail and various fungi on trees. A few woodland birds were seen included chaffinch, great tit, coal tit, robin, wren and nuthatch. The group walked to the Swgd Gwladus Falls, which was a lovely sight, and then retraced its steps back to Pontneddfechan. In total 10 species were seen.
