The history of RSPB Lakenheath Fen

Sunday 19 September

Price: £6 Adult (RSPB Member) £10 Adult (Non-Member)

Booking essential

RSPB Lakenheath Fen has an interesting history, and much is known about what this area looked like from prehistoric times to the present day, and much has changed. Variations in climate and local peoples' use of the land has driven these changes, and during this walk we will look at the story of how history has shaped what we see today as we walk around. We will see signs of its past that are still here today as reminders, such as poplar plantations and the very same polytunnel skeleton that was used to grow the first reeds when the RSPB bought the land in 1995! Come with us on a journey of discovery to understand this unique nature reserve.

Please bring strong waterproof footwear, as well as plenty of water and sun protection.

Joining the RSPB on the day will enable attendees to pay the reduced ticket price.

Social distancing measures relevant to the time the event takes place will be employed throughout the event and we will be entirely outdoors. Please ask for more space if you feel you need it, and all attendees are asked to be supportive of others' needs during the event.
