Weekend Walk - General Cemetery

Nuthatch on branch

Saturday, 7 May 2016

We had a wonderful walk in lovely warm sunshine surrounded by birdsong. There were Goldfinches, Chaffinches, Robins, Wrens and Chiffchaffs in full song, and newly arrived Swifts zooming overhead; a sure sign that summer was on its way.

The highlight for the group was watching a pair of Great Spotted Woodpeckers flying in and out of their nest hole. We also had great views of nesting Nuthatches and Song Thrushes, Blackcaps and Long-tailed Tits.

We completed the walk at the Lion Gate with a cup of tea and biscuits - a perfect conclusion to a memorable walk.
