Weekend Walk - Wadsley Common

Nuthatch on branch

Saturday, 29 October 2016

We set off on our autumn bird walk on a cloudy, unseasonably warm morning. We were very soon listening to singing Robins and Wrens and watching Jays stashing away acorns and we had amazing views of an obliging Yellowhammer just above the quarry.

In the woodland, we cam across a small area full of Great Tits, Blue Tits, Coal Tits and even Nuthatches and Treecreepers. We went on to see Goldfinches, Chaffinches, Redwings, Lesser Redpolls and Long-tailed Tits - all against a background of fantastic autumn colours.

A wonderful walk reconnecting with nature!
